Miss Wigan raised more than £5000 for charity
Well it’s been a while but it has also been a busy few months as usual!
Firstly, as you may remember from my last blog I was planning an event back in November.
I held a ladies night to help raise money for Alfie and Thomas, two little boys from my home town who needed funding to help buy new wheelchairs that they desperately needed.
The night was a massive success, everyone really enjoyed it and are asking me to hold another! And we managed to raise a fantastic £1000 !!! And due to everyone’s hard work from our town they was able to buy the wheelchairs and a special bed ! Amazing, I later then received a lovely photo from Alfie and Thomas and a special thank you letter which was wonderful and really reminds me what being a Miss is about.
Secondly, a charity that I have been working closely with is Dementia Buddy, I have managed to help get this charity on the ladder and they are able to come into Sainsbury’s Leigh an educate staff and customers on their fantastic devices that help people who suffer with dementia, I hope I can help these a lot more in the future!
Also, last weekend I attended a charity weekend at Leigh Sports village where I was able to dress a showgirl! Very glamorous! We sold raffle tickets on the night and the event raised over £4000 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice!
Now a little into the future of what my plans are, sports relief is coming up and we will be doing a number of things for this such a not so surprise hakerena flash mob! I can’t wait for this! We are currently looking at plans to work alongside the Atherton food bank service and also arrange a sponsored sleep out to help raise money and awareness for homeless people in Wigan and Leigh areas.
Also I am currently raising money for Help for Hero’s, a very special charity that most people know about and respect. So me, a few friends and family will be doing the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge later on in the year to raise money, the challenge will be to climb the three peaks in Yorkshire in 12 hours! Also, we will be doing a number of events building up to this to help raise more money and visit some of the units to see where the money will go and help!
In addition to this I ill be running the 10k Wigan run again and the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge a second time for Joining Jack charity! Very busy year ahead and I have so many more ideas and charities I would like to help.
I would also like to say a special thank you to my friend Steph Moss who held a charity Zumba night and raised £150 for beauty with purpose, thank you!
Keep updated on my Miss Wigan Facebook and Twitter page for more events coming up!
Thank you, love from your Miss Wigan xxx
